The MWD Flow Simulator is an interface between the MWD tool string and the surface decoding system to allow surface testing of the tool and surface gear.

  • Simulates flow on/off conditions by manipulating the flow line.  (this function does not work with an XXT pulser driver attached to the tool.)
  • Simulates static standpipe pressure with flow on condition
  • Converts 5v pulses from the tool to 4-20ma signal to simulate down hole pulsing (50psi pulse height) to allow full decoding of data from tool string.
  • Visual indication of Pulse/Flow state and RxTx communication status
  • Powered from Battery on tool or through the surface system.
  • Load test and depassivate battery with jacks for DVM.

CAN BUS Tool Interface Box - Rugged

Rugged version of the CAN Interface box designed specifically for use with JAE tools but will work for any device using CAN bus protocol. Highly durable and water resistant. Box comes with a cable to interface to the tool bus via MDM15P connector or a cable of your specification which may incur an additional fee.

The transducer signal splitter allows the use of two separate surface systems or decoding units to be used with a single 4-20ma transducer. The device acts like a "Y" cable splitter. Designed to use standard rig transducer cables common in MWD surface systems with a 19P connector on one end and a 6S connector on the other.

Rugged water resistant design for rig/outdoor use.

No external power supply required, runs off of power normally supplied to the transducers by the surface systems.

(Unit includes two 3' cables to connect to surface system)

This module screws onto a poppet valve style pulser and translates valve movement into a 4-20ma signal to use for decoding and pulser operation verification.

  • Requires no external power source.
  • Flow On/Off switch provides a flow-on standpipe pressure and approximately 1K psi pulses with full travel.

  • Recessed switch to prevent breaking of the switch.
  • Comes with a 12' cable but will also plug directly into a standard transducer cable.

The MWD Tool test box is an interface between the MWD tool string and the surface decoding system to allow surface testing of the tool and surface gear.

This new bench top design along with the accompanying software will allow far easier and faster testing of Tandems, Cables, and Dioode Modules along with providing a record of the test if desired.  It will enable you to test the full functionality of your diode protection modules as well.

This equipment is designed to test up to 10 lines of conductors for shorts, opens, poor connections and shorts to a shield or housing.  The unit will also test up to 6 TVS diode protected lines to determine breakover point and detect open or shorted lines.

Using different adapters, this unit can test any cable or assembly up to 10 conductors.    Windows based interface software will allow custom configuration for any cables you have.

Requires 120 or 220vac power.

Several failure modes are tested:

  • Open connections – broken wires, solder connections, or connector pins.
  • Shorted lines – one or more lines shorted to another.
  • Poor connections – frayed high-resistance wires, poor solder joints with high resistance, worn connector pins causing high resistance connections.
  • TVS diode open – no protection present on a line due to an open or defective TVS diode.
  • TVS diode breaking over past specifications – essentially no protection on a line due to TVS diode break-over point being far too high.
  • TVS diode breaking over too soon – interrupted function of the tool due to TVS diode breaking over far below specifications causing logic or communication errors, pulsing problems or even no flow sensing.
  • Checks lines shorted to a housing or a shield.

The Pulser Test box allows you to control your MWD pulser without the need for a tool connected to the pulser unit. It provides power and a pulse signal to actuate the valve. It displays the status of the FLOW line output from the pulser as well. The pulse signal can either be automatic (1Hz) or manually controlled with a switch.

Current draw can be monitored using an external volt meter.

Requires 120vac or 208vac  50/60Hz. Comes with one cable (does not include rotatable connectors).

This equipment is designed to provide a calibration factor based on your specific tool response and your API certified calibration source.

The system comes with a downloadable application that provides a user interface for all testing performed. Compatible with Windows 7 & 10 systems only.

The system also comes with a cable made to fit your tools and is included in the price with the exception of rotary connectors. Those will incur an upcharge depending on requirements.

The API source is not included in this system.

  • Allows user configuration for each specific source used. This is stored in a local file and will be loaded each time the application is run automatically after saving.
  • Provides a calibration report when the process is complete which is stored and is accessible for future use as well as printable.
  • Test data and report data are both stored in log files for future analysis or proof of calibration later. This data is easily managed and viewed from the application interface.
  • Includes a temperature sensor log and display during calibration.
    Monitors and logs supply voltage as well as tool current draw during calibration.
  • Has an on-screen graph of data sampled for easy visualization during calibration.
  • Provides 2 built-in BNC connectors with buffered gamma signal to attach an oscilloscope and/or frequency counter.
  • Integrated 28vdc power supply.
  • Includes a “test” mode which displays current data for an infinite amount of time for just testing tools. You can use this to quickly test a tools function without doing a calibration.
  • Allows you to upload your company logo for use on reports.
    Easy to install, no configuration parameters or calibration of the interface box at all.

The unit requires 110-230VAC 50-60Hz power.

A maximum power output of 1.6A is supplied by the interface box.

The Gamma Module Test Box allows the user to connect a Gamma module stand-alone without using a Directional module to obtain counts.

This unit displays the current draw of the module as well as a 20 second rolling average of the gamma counts, it takes 5x 4 second buckets of average readings and updates every 4 seconds.
